Drive My Car

by Bigs and Teens

Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I'll love you...
--The Beatles

Our car was totaled in front of our house at 4:30 yesterday morning by a drunk teen driver. Driver fled the scene and was caught later. Police filed report. We called insurance company.

Neighbors and police tried knocking on our door. Doorbell doesn't work. We were sleeping and AC was on. Finally neighbor called our landlord's daughter, who called us at 3:30pm.

The car was almost 19 years old, and it was in good running condition.

We're glad that no one was hurt, but we have to get new transportation. We take commuter train to work but need a car for anything else. There's a grocery store in walking distance, but....we want this resolved as soon as possible, so we can have some degree of normalcy.

Been on the phone this morning with insurance agent and car rental. We'll probably get the rental this afternoon. We don't want to end up with a clown car, but there's not much we can do about that.

We walked into town and got a few days' worth of groceries. Once we get the rental, we can do some much-needed laundry. And brother number 2's birthday is Saturday; we'd promised to take him to the diner for brunch.

All of this is adding many more layers of meat to our already towering PTSD sandwich.
