That's what it feels like. Like we wasted another day.
It got up to 80-something F today. We could look up the Celsius equivalent, but we're too lazy. You can go to http://www.noaa.gov/ and find the temperature converter. Or google "temperature converter."
Anyway, we've had the AC on high the whole time, but there's only so much it can do. We're on the second floor of a house, and heat rises to the second floor. We've also had the ceiling fans (one in the living room / kitchen and one in the bedroom) on all day. And we listened to baseball on the radio because we know that having the TV on makes the room hotter. :-/
So we spent most of the baseball game with our menopausal body stretched out crosswise on our queen-size bed. We're only a couple of inches taller than the bed is wide, which is one of the reasons why we've always had a queen. The other reason is that we have about 45 stuffies in the bed, which are way more important to us than any potential spouse, which is out of the question for us anyway.
Rambling. The grammar freaks in here don't like all of the dangling clauses in the previous paragraph. So be it. This is a ramble anyway, and we have to stop trying to be perfect all the time.
So we stretched out crosswise on the bed, with the ceiling fan on above us, the AC on a few feet away and the baseball game on the radio. We dozed on and off. Hot flashes are rearing their ugly head again. We have to spread a towel out on the bedsheet. And we have to keep getting up to satisfy a nagging thirst, which means that we also have to keep getting up to use the bathroom. If men had menopause, all of this crap would have been remedied long ago.
Hockey playoff game on the radio now. We're not into hockey nearly as much as baseball or even American football, but we come from a family of hockey fans and try to indulge them. Whatever. Some of us will get into it a little, but it will never be high on our list.
We should make dinner. Even at our best, most of us hate to cook. Our apartment has a stove from the 1950s, and it requires a match to use the oven. We don't light matches. In 17 years of living here, we've never used the oven and have rarely used the stove. We mostly eat large grilled-chicken salads, which is fine with us, because we like salads more than cooked vegetables anyway. Occasionally we'll nuke a frozen entree instead.
Thirsty again. Screw Aunt Flo and the patriarchal society that doesn't care enough to put her out of business.
