Somebody
inside said that Rachel's operating in preverbal-flashback mode just as
Deborah is, and reminded me that they share the same flashback(s) but
carry different reactions.
And, the same somebody said, if we can't necessarily expect Deborah to act like an adult, why should we expect it of Rachel?
I see it differently. It's an important correlation, but Rachel's at or near the front on a daily basis, and she has destructive urges that we can barely control. Rachel's anger overwhelms me; it overwhelms Deborah, and no doubt it overwhelms others inside. It's a wonder that we can function at all.
