[Our response to a forum post entitled "How Do You Stay Afloat As a Multiple?"]
This is a great topic. [The others here] have given really good responses.
We've
known for 21 years that we're multiple, and we've made a great deal of
progress in healing and establishing a life for ourselves. We've had
times when we've functioned very well overall. But life throws curves
to everybody, singleton and multiple alike.
The last few years,
however, have thrown us several curveballs at once: Our father's
health decline and his passing 4.5 years later, our passage through
menopause, difficulties beyond our control on the job, and our having to
deal with trauma work in therapy even though we didn't intend to dig
deep enough to do so. At times, we've barely held it together.
Even
though we don't have any answers, two things ultimately keep us going.
One is our two nieces, who are 18 and nearly 15. The other is our
desire to be victorious over all the people who have harmed us and all
the traumas that we have been through.
