Sometimes the inanity (and insanity) of so-called mental-health "professionals" amazes us. It doesn't surprise us, but as I like to say, the difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.
Example: A forum acquaintance was frustrated because her (his?) pdoc "said I'm integrating because I use to switch from very well known personalities.now that I feel dead and other things I mentioned. He said it's because the altars have robbed me of my emotions."
*headdesk*
Our response:
As we see it, the things you describe happening are common to multiples in general, and are not specifically an indicator of integration. How does the T know that you're integrating? What evidence does he or she have?
It would seem to us that if you don't even know your own system well, how can the T know? The one thing we do agree with is the idea that someone else may be more qualified to help you. Granted, we aren't there in session with you, so we can only assume.
Just our thoughts. Hope you can sort this out soon.

This sounds even more like he knows virtually nothing about being multiple.
Integration doesn't "rob" multiples of anything; it enhances the whole. Mind you, we ourselves have no intention of integrating, and we do know that no matter what path someone chooses to take toward healing, it gets worse before it gets better.
And as we said, integration or not, every multiple system has periods of time where there's less clarity and/or less communication inside. It happens in cycles. It happens to us, and it happens to other people here.
Our former psychiatrist was supportive of our multiplicity, but he was clueless about how it works. Many times we would have to work hard to keep from banging our head against the wall when we'd hear some of the questions he'd ask. "Have any of the multiples left?" No, this is not Grand Central Station. We don't get on a train and retire to Florida.
It took us a couple of years to find a good therapist. But it makes a world of difference. We hope you find a good one for you.
