We're sorry that we haven't been able to post during this past week. But it was worth it, because we got all of our 2013 flex-benefits reimbursement claims in by the deadline. There were about 15 Rxs, about 36 EOBs (Explanation of Benefits, or claim reports), and numerous invoices, receipts, and cancelled checks. We sent the claims lady eight emails, each around 4-5 MB and containing an average of 15 or so attachments. She's going to have a lot of work to do starting on Monday. :-)
It would have been nice if we could have sent things in at the time we actually received them. The flex people recommend submitting the claims once a month. But the last couple of years have been very difficult, with a lot of work stress, a lot going on in T, and a lot going on internally. It's been difficult enough holding on. Even though I'm not one of the ones in our system who struggles, I do empathize, and I understand enough, at least from that perspective, why things are so hard.
We had to stay up until 1 or 2 am on several nights in a row to prepare all of this paperwork. As relieved as we were to get it all done yesterday, we still couldn't catch up on our sleep. It's as if we were still in 1 am mode. We puttered around the apartment, straightening up this and that, even getting our things ready for our regular Saturday errands and routine. We rarely get ready in advance, but someone just couldn't relax enough to rest.
This morning, with the help of enough caffeine, we managed to do what we needed to do, and we were able to come home and relax by about 4pm. We turned on the radio to listen to baseball while lying crosswise on the bed. We didn't really sleep much, but we did drift in and out. Whoever is resisting rest is going to have to get to the point where they're ready. Everyone understands on an intellectual level how important self-care is, but sometimes it takes a while to get to where we can actually take the next step.
We need to make/eat dinner before the next baseball game comes on. Ideally we would make our usual grilled chicken salad, but tonight we're too tired. I know that we're really tired if even I feel it. We'll just microwave a frozen entree; the salad can wait until tomorrow. All in due time.
