Just Call Us Six Eyes, Part Deux

[A follow-up to a post from a few months ago.]

We've been wearing glasses since the body was four and a half.  That's over 50 years.  We broke our frames this morning. They're wire-rimmed and a few years old, and we were overdue to go to Pearle for an exam. We have an issue with compulsive hair-pulling of our eyelashes and eyebrows, and it was embarrassing the last time we showed up for an exam. Been doing better, but breaking our frames was the last straw.

We should say that we use two pairs of glasses. Our default pair is for distance, and we wear them all the time except when we're doing close work. This is the pair that broke. We've also had reading glasses for about 15 years, just before the body turned 40. Our current pair of reading glasses is fine, but we decided to defer to the exam results.

And it's snowing today. We didn't want go to Pearle until late afternoon, when the snow was supposed to stop. So we contacted work and told them why we wouldn't be in today. We didn't mention that we have our previous pair of distance glasses, which we'll use until we get a new pair made.

We made an appointment for an eye exam today at 12:30. Before the snow stops. 

[Charity:] We didn't like the eye doctor.  She seemed very dismissive of our concerns about how our prescription had changed slightly.  It was her atittude, kind of an "I'm the professional, so I know best," and that we shouldn't concern ourselves with worrying or asking questions.  We later told the saleswoman that we didn't like this, and that we had the right to ask questions and to be an empowered consumer.

Our new glasses (both pairs) are a slightly stronger magnification in the right eye. That eye has astigmatism. Grumble.  And the magnification levels on both pairs of lenses are so strong that they had to order them. Both pairs should be ready tomorrow or Monday.

A few days ago we paid 27 dollars (!) for a tube of Mederma.  Started using it this evening.  This scar is very small anyway, but we also have one on our left boob from a biopsy that was done nine years ago. Much more noticeable, if we were to let anybody see it. But you can file that possibility under "Snowball's Chance in Hell."
