Migraine, 10/26/16

by Charity

I have to admit that I'm mainly posting this to keep our T up to date; we've already recounted this on the forums that we currently frequent.  We've been otherwise occupied since then....work, apartment, family, sleeping.  I've been tired.  And I may ramble.

We stayed home from work on Wednesday because we were very tired.  Slept all day, not out of depression, but from exhaustion.  Didn't want to ask our T to move our appointment to earlier in the day/evening, because we had no idea how much sleep we'd need.

So we went to T that night in sweats, not office clothes, and carrying our backpack instead of our briefcase.  We didn't mention anything about having stayed home, and our T didn't ask.  We weren't and aren't trying to hide anything, but it was more important to talk about the issues that we were working on already.

The session itself was productive, but we'd had a headache earlier that day and had taken Tylenol twice, once in the morning and once in the evening.  The headache started to get worse.  By the time we were home after session, the headache had become a full-blown migraine with nausea.  We don't get nausea with migraines.

The migraine itself got so bad that turning out all the lights in the apartment--leaving only the kitchen night light and the display lights from clocks and the computer and TV, and wearing sunglasses--wasn't enough.  We turned off the TV and went to bed.  That didn't help either.

And then we had to throw up.  We scurried to the kitchen garbage can.  We didn't want to use the toilet because we didn't want to have to clean it.  We could always take out the garbage.  It was a good thing that we'd only eaten a protein bar that day.

Then we went back to bed and finally fell asleep.  We were better the next day, and we returned to work.

This weekend was....well, it could have been better, and it could have been worse.  Laura would say "Meh."  We're nowhere near the pit, thank goodness, but it's frustrating trying to keep my issues separated from Rachel's issues separated from Drew's issues separated from...you get the point.  None of us like "adulting."

But we did make our weekly visit to brother number 2, and we did get groceries, even though we waited until Sunday evening to do the latter.  "Pizza or cookies, but not both," Allegra said in the supermarket.  We agreed to forego the cookies because we didn't feel like exerting enough energy to make salad.  We'd had breakfast at McDonald's at about 7:30pm, so we knew it would be a while before we'd be eating anything else.

We signed up for a new service to forward our blog post links to Twitter, because the old service was shutting down.  We had to sign up for three services before we found one that was both suitable and free.

It's hard to stay positive, though.  I told our T that I don't want to be the only adult making an effort to act like one and function responsibly on the outside.  Being us is a team effort.  So is adulting.  If one of us doesn't function well, then none of us do.
