[A longtime friend of ours just made a forum post about coming to the point in her healing where she can forgive, even though she previously did not want to forgive.]
[...T]his is a great post. It really resonates with us.
For us, it's not so much about forgiveness but about acceptance. Not acceptance in the sense of "it's okay that this stuff happened." It's acceptance in the sense of "This stuff happened, and there's nothing that we can do to change the past. And there are no 'do-overs' or getting back the time that we've lost to being and feeling hurt. But we do have the opportunity to live the rest of our life as we choose, and we need to choose to heal."
It's hard for Charity to let go of resentment and choose healing. It's hard for her to get past the stubborn insistence on waiting for a "do-over." But moving forward, even one small step at a time, is the only way to heal.
