Bang the Drum All Day

by Laura

Todd Rundgren was right.

The trouble is, we don't have the wherewithal to do what we want, live our life on our own terms.  We have to work.  We have to support ourselves for the rest of our life.  So we have to be miserable.  Either we quit working and live in poverty and end up miserable, or we keep working, make enough money to sock away now, but still not come even close to having enough saved for retirement unless we work at the same job for 15 more years....and end up miserable.

It can't suck any more than that.

We saw our pdoc yesterday.  She's a few years older than we are.  We told her how badly we want to retire, and she empathized.  But she can't do anything for us other than renew our prescriptions and review the lab reports from our internist. Only the work that we do in T (and between T sessions) stands a chance of helping us.

Off to T this evening.  It doesn't feel like we're accomplishing much of anything.  Except staying miserable.
