Friend: i still think that your high standard is getting in your way... maybe building something remotely-family-like would be a good first step before then turning it in a ideal family. We don't do the family imagery at all. [....]I think it would get confusing if we started ideas like that. We are still a team and looking after each other.
Hearing you. We are a team as well. And we've stated here before that we learned long ago to refine our familial model to clarify that we are not actual parents to the younger ones, but older siblings to them.
Yet even with this clarified, it doesn't change the fact that we do have enormously high standards for ourselves, no matter what relational construct our system uses. We've spent our whole life trying to be perfect for outside people to win their approval and validation, which we never received. It's a difficult habit to break.
We admire your tenacity and resolve. And we hope that we can apply these qualities in our own life.
