Why the Willow Weeps

by Charity

This is the second of the two things that I wanted to write about the other day, when I posted about what I talked about during our last T session.  It's about why willow is here.

During the summer when we were five and a half, we were with our parents (and presumably brother number one) at our father's parents' house.  Our grandparents had a wading pool for us and our brother to use.  On this particular day, the adults decided that we should use the wading pool, even though we did not have a bathing suit with us.
So they had us remove all of our clothing except our underpants.

Underpants.  Not even underpants and undershirt.  Just underpants.  We had always been very private and did not like undressing in front of other people, let alone walk around in our underwear.  And now just underpants?  We cried loudly, and our mother took our picture.  She took a picture of us standing in front of the wading pool, wearing only our underpants, and crying.

What was she thinking?

Who does something like that?  Takes a picture of their child crying?  Did she want to celebrate the occasion?

Unbelievable. But we have to believe it.  It happened to willow, and she's been sitting alone under the willow tree since then.  Alone except for Protector Wolf, who keeps everyone else away.

As we recounted all of this to our T, we could feel the anger rising inside.  It was willow.  She pulled out the legal pad from our messenger bag and the pen from our pocketbook, and she scribbled furiously all over the page.  Then she took a deep breath, and she wrote her name in big letters on the bottom and handed the page to our T.

A few moments later, I said to our T that willow had gone back inside, and she was in jayne-ann's arms crying.

She still feels the anger, willow does.  She says that she doesn't want to cry any more.  We don't know how long it will be before she lets go of the anger.
