[From a quiz on PsychForums.]
1. Is there a particular "self" that takes the lead at work (I'm kinda assuming this would need to be the case)? Was that self created FOR the job site or did someone volunteer (or was volunteered LOL) to take that responsibility?
There are a few of us, our usual fronters.
2. Do you ever find yourself switching at work? How do you handle that? Have any of your co-workers ever noticed? Commented?
Switching is necessary to how our system operates. We deal with each other and with life the way outside people do; we just happen to share a body.
We are intentionally covert. Although once, many years ago, we got caught using what we called "the royal we." :-)
3. Does anybody at work know you're DID?
Laura: Hell no.
4. What is the hardest thing about trying to work when you're DID?
Laura: Pretending that we want to work and that we care about working.
5. Are you careful to look "the same" every day so as to maximally blend in?
Yes.
6. Do the other parts of your system ever ask about work? Want to go to work with you? Instead of you? How do you negotiate that?
No. Everybody inside can see/hear what's going on at the front, kind of like closed-circuit TV. Unfortunately, we've learned that this is not a two-way tool, and those of us at the front often can't see/hear what's going on farther inside.
7. If you couldn't work for a long time but now work, what happened that enabled you to find enough balance to be able to pull that off?
N/A. We've been working for the same company for 29 years.
8. What happens if you're driving to or from work and one of your child parts pop out? Are they able to negotiate driving?
We take the commuter train. The kids stay inside for commuting and working. It's boring to them (and to some of us older folks).
A couple of the older kids do know how to drive, but we usually don't let them do so unless there's no other traffic around, and then only rarely.
