We talked to B1 on the phone Sunday evening. Feelings have historically
given B1 the willies, but SIL has been a good influence on him during
the 22.5 years that they've been married (they've known each other for
about 30 years total).
We have three second cousins on our
father's side. For reference, we'll call them C1, C2, and C3. C1 is
male and is about five years older than we are. C2 (female) is a free
spirit who is five months older than we are, and who never married or
had kids. C3 (female) is more conventional (husband, teenage daughter,
nice suburban house) and is six months younger than we are.
Not
knowing how much we'd told them about our impending move, we emailed the
three of them a few days ago. Beyond sharing the information, our goal
was to have a substantive phone chat with C2 at the earliest
opportunity.
None of them know that we're multiple, and there's
no need to tell them. We did, however, mention that we have been
living for some time with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and that we
tend to isolate, which we know can be detrimental. We're trying to
remedy this, however difficult it can be to do so.
C2 agreed to chat with us by phone tomorrow (Wednesday) evening. We'll see how it goes.
