EMD-Aren't, 4/7/18

by Charity and Laura

Maybe I am the exception, but I did not find remembering childhood trauma or EMDR helpful. A lot of months were wasted with the rehashing of difficult memories and EMDR and this was all under the care of a trauma specialist experienced in treating people with DID. -- DID Forum member

This. Times 1000. We will never do EMDR and have told our T to stop recommending it.

We believe that for us to heal, traumatic memories and their associated feelings need to be processed when they arise, but we will not go searching for them. Nor will we engage in any technique that prevents or reduces our ability to be in direct control of the process.

We don't begrudge anyone who finds EMDR helpful. But it's not for everyone.
