Apartment Stuff

The living room is much larger; there's a dedicated dining area, and there's more closet space. Even though the new place has a small galley kitchen, the net prep and storage space is twice that of our old kitchen, which might be termed as "efficiency," which means no counter space other than room for a dish drainer.
The bedroom is about the same size, and the bath has a tub, where our old bathroom doesn't.
We're starting to talk to movers. And we've almost got the painter committed to next Monday and Tuesday. We told him that we needed to be able to tell our boss this Friday which days next week we'll be out of the office.
Thanks for asking, as always.

Yes, arduous. At least we confirmed that the painting would be done next Monday and Tuesday. We have to confirm whether the new refrigerator will also arrive next Monday as planned.
We've contacted five potential moving companies via HomeAdvisor and Angie's List. One is most promising, three are reasonable in cost but otherwise not to our liking. The fifth company's estimator was gone for the day, so we're trying again tomorrow. Since we want to move on the 16th, we need to make a decision this week, for our own peace of mind.
And we forgot what else we were going to mention.

F*cking electric company didn't do the meter reading today like they promised. Said it would be a special appointment for our unit. We gave them the super's number, but they didn't call him, and they didn't come.
We called them tonight to find out why. Customer service pinhead said that the regular monthly reading for all the meters in the complex was scheduled for today, but sometimes they get behind schedule, and no date is guaranteed.
What the F*CKING HELL?!?!?!?

Pinhead said that their records said that the original pinhead only told us about the non-guaranteed regular reading for the complex. She never said this. She said that someone would read our meter on the 2nd. Nothing about maybe, nothing about the regular reading for the complex.
We asked for a supervisor.
The supervisor was more accommodating. We told her that the super would be away all next week and would not be back until Tuesday the 14th. We absolutely had to get a promised reading tomorrow for our particular meter so that our account to be activated. The power's been on the whole time, but it's probably being charged to the former owner, if anybody.
Sigh.

Aaaaaaaaaand....
Confusion about the details of the delivery of our new fridge (from that big-box store with the blue logo). The fridge had to be ordered from the manufacturer to deliver to the store, which would then deliver to us. It's so f*cking convoluted that we couldn't get a straight answer from the customer service desk at the store or from the central customer service number on the website.
The salesperson who'd sold us the fridge is working alone tonight and has been with customers all evening, so she's not answering her phone. Customer service pinhead said that she'd leave our name and phone number on the salesperson's desk.
Who knows if the store salesperson is even going to call us back?
So we called the central customer service number on the website again. Got an agent who actually knew what she was doing. Confirmed that the fridge is supposed to arrive at the store on Friday 8/3. That the store would deliver it to our new apartment on Monday 8/6. That we would get an automated confirmation call on Sunday evening 8/5.
Okay. Deep breath.
After we hung up, we realized that our store account has our work phone as primary contact. So we had to speak to a third agent to tell them to send the automated call to our home number, which is listed as a secondary number.
And.....
Since the delivery people might need to call us en route on delivery day, they won't reach us at either number. So we gave the agent our cell phone number (which we never give out, since we don't usually keep the phone on). Made sure that the delivery instructions said to only call the cell phone number on the day of delivery.
Enough already.

I think it’s great you’re getting a new house. -- A little from another system
It is an apartment. Our bigger people bought an apartment. The building is two floors high and most people have a terrace. And it is a bunch of little buildings around a big lawn. And it is called a garden apartment.
And even though it is only a small building with two floors we wish we could still live in a house with a yard. We do not like having all those other people around.

So we were a little mixed up about the neighbors upstairs. They are the mom and the 4 year old girl but we do not know if there is a dad.
The people next door are two girls who are 9 and maybe 8 and their mom and dad. They were playing with the 4 year old girl when we met them. That time we asked if they were all sisters and they explained stuff but it all happened so fast. Anyway this is who is really who.
[10:36 pm]
Okay we got one more thing mixed up.
The first time when it was the dad and the three girls. We don't know if he was the dad of the little girl or the dad of the two bigger girls. We guess we will have to wait and see which of the moms he is with. But then we will probably forget what he looks like.
The good thing is the little girl's mom has blonde hair and the mom of the bigger girls has brown hair.
And maybe we are thinking too much about this.

Send good thoughts, please.

We're baaaa-aaaack....
We moved three days ago. The move was swift, but the aftermath has been outright chaos. It's taken us this long to get our computer hooked up, and we're reasonably tech-savvy.
Whew.
We're exhausted.
[4:04 pm]
[To a forum friend who remarked that our new home is big.]
Yes, big. Thanks. From 425 square feet in the old place to [730] square feet here. Dunno what that is in square meters, but somebody wants to look it up. [eyeroll]
Answer: From 39.4838 square meters to 65.0321 square meters. Approximately.
Things are a mess, understandably, and will be for a while. Someone inside keeps saying that mess and chaos "offends [her] sensibilities." Not sure if it's Rachel or Drew, or both, or neither. Ain't multiplicity grand?
